The New York Nobody Knows: Walking 6,000 Miles in the City

Wed, Jul 15, 2015 - 5:30pm to 8:30pm

In conjunction with the Museum of the City of New York, the 5BBC Is holding a club social on Wednesday July 15th at 6:30pm @ 1220 5th Ave, New York, NY 10029 (Between 103rd and 104th) Tel. (212) 534-1672. Web: www.mcny.org

The event will include a discussion around the book "The New York Nobody Knows: Walking 6,000 Miles in the City" with William Helmreich, the author, and Ariel Kaminer, a former reporter at The New York Times who now writes for Buzzfeed. We thought this could be of interest to your club because it will focus on the author’s experience trying to understand New York City by walking virtually every block. While we realize walking isn’t biking, we thought that the topic for this book really connected with our collective club experience of exploring New York City’s neighborhoods close up. Perhaps it will give some ideas to leaders and members to suggest new exploratory rides.

The venue is awesome and they are offering us significantly discounted admission. For more details, click here. They have created a discount code, WALK, for our members to get $10 tickets to the event (regularly $16). The book will also be available to be signed by the author at a discounted rate.

Hope to see you there.
