Enjoy an advanced moderate ride in the New Jersey countryside. We will look for some shade as we bicycle through the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge. We start our ride from the Morristown Train Station. This is a train station opened in 1913. The interior was featured in the video by Cyndi Lauper's "Time after Time" video (at 3 minutes and 36 seconds). (Wikipedia)  We enter the shade of the Great Swamp at about mile 8. Then it's on to our lunch stop at Ridge Bagel and Cafe, mile 29.2. After our stop, we will again travel through the shady Great Swamp. A stop at Raptor's Trust, at mile 34.1 is planned. After the ride, around the corner from the train station is the Saigon Subs and Cafe, a good place for bubble tea and sandwiches. If you are not driving to the start, another option is to get there by train. There is a New Jersey transit train that leaves Penn Station at 9:11 am and arrives at Morristown train station at 10:28 am. In a little over an hour you will be out of the big city.
