The gritty Brooklyn waterfront of the 1950's was well illustrated by Marlon Brando in the classic "On the Waterfront."  Teamsters, Longshoreman and other tough guys working in the hard industrial edges of New York.  Over the years, the edges have softened.  Where industry once thrived - there are now parks.  The cries of the Longshoreman have been replaced by the joyful shouts of playing children.  In this ride we explore the juxtaposition of parks and industry as we ride from Red Hook [Erie Basin Park and Velentino Pier], through Brooklyn Bridge Park - including the newly opened section], into Williamsburg [Grand Ferry Park, Bushwick Inlet Park] and finally Greenpoint [Transmitter Park and Nature Walk.]  In the immortal words of Bob Castro - "Only in New York would this be called nature walk."  Bring your camera as this is a very photogenic ride. 

What can be better on a winter ride than good rib-sticking Polish food.  Alas, PSC still remains closed due to Covid - But Mark has found us an appropriate substitute - PYZA.  Pyza has all the Polish classics that your belly desires.  BUT - they do not take plastic.  That means that YOU MUST TAKE CASH.  [For those young'uns, cash is the folding stuff you put in your wallet.]

Along with a camera - please remember to bring spare tubes, money for lunch, a lock and a smile.  There are some areas that are cobblestone streets, and often the pavement is not in pristine condition - this is not the ride for your expensive road bike.
