Treat yourself/family/friends for the holidays, and stock up on some of Brooklyn's finest family-run, classic smoked fish products (salmon, whitefish, etc) at wholesale "bon marche" pricing.  FYI, Acme's "Fish Fridays" (the only time they allow retail biz) is for we, the public. It's a bit diff these pandemic days, but still - - such a deal!  And we've been "lucky" to have less than seasonal temps and nothing freezing/slippery on the ground; either of which stop many of us out from taking the bikes out.

So join our early morning trip to pick up your order at this wonderful Greenpoint factory. It's a short and sweet ride . . across the 59th St bridge, swoop by Acme to gather purchases, then head to a fabulous neighborhood bakery (eat there and/or take away).  We've been delighted by that bakery during prior ACME rides, and the name can't get any closer to our favoriet transport mode . . . La Bicyclete Bakery on Driggs Ave. They've wonderfully fresh baked artisinal bread, pastries, plus great coffee, and are 5 star rated. Ride returns via the Williamsburg bridge.

Overall, it's unimpressive mileage on this ride, 11 miles if you loop back to the start, but only 6ish to the Willie-B bridge.  Well worth it for the great products, tastes, and fun. No point-drop-sweep, we'll ride as a group over good paved streets and bike paths. Expect to be back in Manhattaqn by 9:30AM the latest. Some showers won't deter us, plus there are bails along the way.

BYO carrying capacity for toting purchases, and of course, mask, helmet, bike in good shape, tires pumped up, tube, etc. Please also bring a printed copy or a screen shot of your ACME purchase receipt, to make pickup faster. [FYI, they pack purchases into taped, outsized boxes which like Amazon Prime boxes have way too much air for the contents.  Most of us break them open and leave boxes behind for recycling, stashing our purchases into our own carry bags or sacks or panniers.]

For Acme Fish Fridays, only online orders are accepted, curbside pickup within a time slot selected when you order (pick 8:00AM). Not to worry if only later times are available just select the nearest time and it will work fine.

WARNING:  Friends and family might pile on to your shopping list once they hear where you're going! So be prepared to bring back more than just for yourselves.

MEET:  south side of   E60th just East of 2nd AVe, just before entry to the bridge bike path (where Spokesman Cycles shop used to be).

BRING: The usual bike flat fix tools plus whatever else specific to your bike is wise. Dress in layers for the weather. BYO lock for bike; bike of any kind is fine. Leader is using an "around town" mtn bike which has treaded, not knobby/fat) tires, and is eminently lockable.
