Head east to join us on a special scout ride, as we make sure this scenic ride, with multiple interesting (and a few high caloric) stops, is ready for prime time.  We meet at 9:45 at the Speonk station on the LIRR. A train from the city arrives at that time.  If driving to the start, park in the free parking lot on the west side of Phillips Avenue.  

From Speonk, we head out on a 45 mile or so adventure with stops at West Hampton, the Quogue Preserve, the Big Duck, Snowflake Ice Cream Shoppe, the Peconic River Herb Farm, Nettie's (not open on Wednesday, but it will get you excited for the weekend prime time version to be led by Tia and Joy later in the summer), along with lovely sights along the way (other than our time in Riverhead).  And to top it all off, after the ride there will be an option to stop a block from the Speonk train station at Brewology 295 and sample one of their many craft brews.  Obviously, this ride has it all.

Please note this ride is a true scout.  Even though we know most of the roadways, a decent portion of the ride is on less explored roads.  A whoops or two is possible.  Most of the ride when possible is on lightly travelled roads, but a decent amount of the ride is on more active roadways.  

The scout is listed as a moderate ride.  Although we will be touring and taking in the sights, we also need to be back to Speonk to catch the return train to the City at 4:14, so there will be times you will need to be able to maintain at least a 15mph pace when necessary.

Normally, we would stop and pick up lunch, but under the current circumstances, please bring your lunch, snacks and sufficient hydration.

IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS: A reminder that you must register for the ride.  Please 'unregister' if you can not make the ride so waited list folks can move up and take the slot.  All riders should come equipped with a mask, hand sanitizer/wipes, a spare tube, sunscreen, snacks and a bike in good condition, as well as being familiar with the current criteria for riding with the Club.  And as always an upbeat positive attitude.
