Prospect Cemetery in Jamaica is probably the oldest cemetery in Queens, and perhaps the entire city. Old records show that it dates to 1668. The cemetery can boast 53 Revolutionary War veterans, 43 Civil War veterans, three Spanish-American War veterans, and many interments of prominent Long Island families such as the Lefferts, Sutphins and Van Wycks. Seems like a place worthy of a scout ride.  We head up through  Forest Park, and then venture into the South Richmond Hill neighborhood.  Part of the ride goes along Tuskeegee Airmen Way.  After exploring [hopefully] the Cemetery we head back through the neighborhoods of South Jamaica and Cypress Hills, traveling some streets that are relatively unknown to most of us.  Then head back through Bushwick to Prospect Park.

Lunch will be at Campeon de los Pollos.  There are few things better that the smell of Dominican Chicken - and this place does it so well.  There are also other nearby options including Roti and Pizza.

Much of this ride will be a true scout.  We've never been here either.  That means that there may be an occasional missed turn.  A few whoopsies along the way.  The ride is listed at 28 miles - but as the commericals used to say "your actual mileage may vary."  The ride is relatively flat with 750 feet of elevation and we will be doing this at a moderate pace.  Please bring the usual bike accessories including a lock, spare tube, snacks, mask, and a spirit of adventure.  This ride is limited to 12 trippers.
