This ride has us going down some well trodden territory - as well as some little used pathways and trails.  We head from Grand Army Plaza and proceed through Bush Terminal and the Brooklyn Army Terminal.  We do a loop of Owls Head Park just for fun and then hit the little used trail through Leif Erickson Park.  We then take the Seventh Avenue Trial and then enter Cannonball Park.  Leaving Cannonball Park, we head up Narrows Ave and visit the Gingerbread House and the goal of the ride - the Barkuloo Cemetery.  Barkuloo is the smallest cemetery in NYC, and contains the remaines of Revolutionary War soldiers, Harms Barkuloo and Simon Cortelyou.  The cover for this ride shows the re-dedication of Barkuloo by the D.A.R. in 1923.  After paying our respects, we head home mostly via the Fourth Avenue Trail.  This ride goes to show that even with a short mileage ride - there can be a lot of beautiful things to see.  Thanks to Karen Rolnick for scouting this with me.

We will be doing a Happy Face Pace - but no dawdling.  There will be some elevation as well.  This is indeed going to be cold, so remember to dress in layers, and bring a warm beverage in a thermos.  There is no lunch stop as the ride is only 15 miles, but feel free to bring snacks.  The ride ends in Park Slope where there are many food choices.
