We All Live in a Yellow Submarine
Primary tabs

Celebrate the last [finally] day of 2021 with this short and enjoyable ride along the Brooklyn Waterfront.
Forty Years ago, local shipyard worker Jerry Bianco had a dream. He was going to raise the sunken ocean liner, Andrea Doria from the bottom of the Atlantic where it had sunk in 1956. To that end, he used salvaged metal and built the Quester 1. But alas, when he tried to launch the sub in 1970, he miscalculated the amount of ballast needed. The sub foundered in the muck of Coney Island Creek - where it remains to this day. This ride takes us along the Brooklyn waterfront through Bush Terminal Park, the Brooklyn Army Terminal, Owls Head Park, the VZ Trail and finally, Calvert Vaux Park. Keeping with the ride's nautical theme, famed landscape architect Calvert Vaux actually drowned along this shore.
Owing to stupid Covid - there will not be any formal lunch stop. So....please bring a bag lunch or snacks. We will have a brief stop in Calvert Vaux Park before heading back home.
Bring - Spare Tube, Snacks, a spirit of adventure.
