Two Rivers, Three Boroughs, an Ocean, a Farmstand, and a Boat Ride
Primary tabs

Let’s do an early fall ride to Rockaway and come back on the ferry. We will leave from the Upper West Side, ride down the Hudson River Greenway, across the brand new Brooklyn Bridge bike lane, and Brooklyn and Queens as we make our way out to Rockaway. We’ll make a quick stop near Grand Army Plaza and riders who wish can join us in there. Once we are out in Rockaway, we’ll ride along the ocean a little bit and shop at a youth-led Urban Farm Stand in partnership with GrowNYC called the Rockaway Youth Task Force. Instead of riding back to town, we will take the Rockaway ferry and catch the brisk ocean air on the way back. We’ll stop to pick up lunch or you can bring your own.
The Urban Farm Stand project developed sustainable solutions for access to locally grown, low-cost fresh produce that can be easily available to the residents. We can help to support the farm and the neighborhood. You can buy fresh fruits & vegetables at the farm stand. Bring a backpack or bike pannier to bring back your purchases.
You can get off the ferry at Sunset Park/Brooklyn Army Terminal or ride to Wall Street/Pier 11. At Pier 11, you can transfer to other ferries that will take you to stops along the East River in Brooklyn and Manhattan, and to the Bronx and Queens. If you prefer, you can ride back to town on your own to get some extra miles or take the subway.
This will be a moderate-lite ride, please be able to maintain 12 MPH on flat terrain. Please bring a helmet, mask, hydration, hand sanitizer/wipes, a spare tube, sunscreen (yes, even in October), and a bike in good condition, as well as being familiar with the current criteria for riding with the Club. The ferry fare is $3.75.
