Riding Rockaway to Rock Hall
Primary tabs

Join us as we ride from Howard Beach, (meeting by New Park Pizza) onto the Brooklyn greenway by Shirley Chisolm Park through then over the Marine Park bridge (Brooklyn riders can meet us by the bridge) onto the Rockaway Boardwalk out to Lawrence Long Island - - one of the "Five Towns" located in Nassau County on the South Shore of Long Island, the others are Cedarhurst, Woodmere, Inwood and Hewlett. We will pick up lunch at a deli along the way and we will have a picnic at the beautiful, historical ROCK HALL MUSEUM. This is a colonial house built in 1767 that was owned by a Tory - 'til it was taken over by the Patriots during the Revolution. The beautiful property also has llamas in a pen and free roaming chickens. The museum is closed but the property remains open. We will return over the Crossbay Bridge back to Howard Beach, easily accessible by car and less that a mile from the A Train Howard Beach station.
This is a moderate ride, please maintain a pace of 12 mph on the greenways and you must be comfortable riding over bridges.
Make sure your bike is in good working order. Please bring your helmet, mask, spare tube, hydration and hand sanitizer.
