Old Field Lighthouse Plus
Primary tabs

We did this ride for the first time in the spring of 2018 and it was wonderful, scenic, and quickly turned into a new classic and is a ride not to be missed. Ride may be accessed by either automobile or public transporation (LIRR). We meet at the Ronkonkoma LIRR train station on the north side of the station near the Dunkin Donut shop.
The ride makes its way from Ronkonkoma north by Stony Brook, to the historic Setaukic area and up around scenic Strong’s Neck. From there we head over and then up to Old Field Lighthouse and then down to a real hill by Head of the Harbor and then south near Lake Ronkonkoma. Overall the ride definitely has some, but not too many real hills. This time we add a new variation to West Meadow Beach. This is an advanced moderate ride where we will keep a decent pace, but will wait for everyone to regroup after the various hills. We prefer to ride as a group, but will utilize point-drop-sweep at times.
Normally, we would stop and pick up lunch, but under the current circumstances, please bring your lunch, snacks and sufficient hydration, as it is very unlikely that we will stop to pick up food before an early lunch. Most importantly bring an upbeat inquisitive attitude ready to explore new and unknown areas.
IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS: A reminder that you must register. Please 'unregister' if you can not make the ride so waited list folks can move up and take the slot. All riders should come equipped with a mask, hand sanitizer/wipes, a spare tube, sunscreen, snacks and a bike in good condition, as well as being familiar with the current criteria for riding with the club.
