Meet us at Cedar Creek Park where we will take the Jones Beach Bikeway to Jones Beach. We will then head west along Jones Beach boardwalk, and then east to the Ocean Parkway Coastal Greenway (OPCG). We will take OPCG to its eastern end for lunch at the Captree State Park restaurant, Captain's Table. There's nearby seating for those who wish to bring their own lunch. After lunch, we will head back on the OPCG and Jones Beach Bikeway to Cedar Creek Park.

There are no big 'splashy' highlights, but the route is 99% car-free with views of the sea, bay, and sand.

Pace will be the upper end of moderate. Strong headwinds may cause us to adjust the pace.

Meet spot details: Cedar Creek Park, which is 1 mile from the LIRR Wantagh train station. Look for us at the Statue of the Fallen Cyclist--just north of a bathroom--near the entrance to the Jones Beach Bikeway.

Parking: On weekday mornings, there is ample parking at Cedar Creek Park. You don't need to be a resident or have a permit of any kind.

Make sure your bike is in good working order. Bring a helmet, hydration, snacks, mask, a couple of spare tubes, sunscreen, and insect repellent. Make sure you have charged lights, just in case you have to ride home after dark. If you are taking the train, bring a bungee cord to secure your bike, an MTA bicycle permit, and whatever else you need (bagel, etc.) for the train.
