Part 4 of 7, 21 Bridges Series
Primary tabs

This ride is loosely themed around the late Chadwick Boseman's 21 Bridges. The aspiration is to ride 17 of 21 bike allowed bridges connecting Manhattan. For Part 4/7, we check off the 5 following bridges: Triboro Bronx, Third Ave, Madison Ave, 145th Street, and McCombs. Not just bridge riding, we discover neighborhoods on the other side of the bridges.
We start near Queens College and ride to Astoria and Wards Island. We will ride through Mott Haven, South Bronx, Melrose, and eventually Concourse---neighborhoods with notoriety. Highlights in Bronx include the Bronx Supreme Court and Yankee Stadium. Mid-day lunch will be Caribbean fare from aptly named Caribbean Takeout, to be eaten in Franz Siegel Park.
The looparound will take us down the center of Harlem on St. Nicholas Ave. Highlights along the way include the Morris Jumel House, Hamilton House, Jackie Robinson Park, and the Apollo Theatre. We turn east at 120th Street and FDR waterfront bike path (nice views) our way to the 59 Br, which we cross to return to our QC start.
This bike tourism ride is rated Moderate with a distance of 35 miles and urban riding pace of 10 mph. Most of the streets will have bike lanes or wider lanes. Some City traffic. 1200 ft. elevation (8 bridges). This ride is covid restricted to 10+2!
