Our historical series tries again, after being rained out on May 30, with a Sunday afternoon ride to one of Manhattan’s oldest houses, the Morris-Jumel Mansion. There is again a free outdoor concert of classical music at 4:30pm on the lawn, but this time the concert tickets (which we had gotten in advance for the group) are sold out. Some walk-ins will be allowed, so we will see if there is space for us. If not, we will hang out long enough for those who want to tour the house or take a walking tour around the neighborhood, and then ride back. .

If you want to take a self-guided tour of the house, you must PURCHASE A TICKET IN ADVANCE here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/self-guided-interior-tour-tickets-119292177113 (Admission is $11.53; book the 3:00 tour, which will allow you to enter until 4:00pm and stay until 4:30pm). And remember, if you couldn't use your ticket when we were rained out, your donation still helps maintain the museum!

There will not be a scheduled food stop on this ride, but you can bring a snack (or buy one nearby) to eat in Roger Morris Park, which surrounds the Mansion. After the one-hour concert (or before, if no room for us on the lawn) we will ride back south, ending the ride on the upper west side near a subway station.

This is a happy-face ride, but you should be able to keep a pace of 10 mph on flat terrain, and be comfortable riding hills.

The ride capacity is 8 riders (+ 2 leaders). The start location will be will be in the vicinity of Central Park; details will be sent to the first 8 registrants the day before the ride..

Please make sure your bike is in good working order. Bring your helmet, mask, hand sanitizer, spare tube, water, lock, a blanket to sit on, bike lights (we plan to be back well before dark, but just in case) and a love of history.
