Part 2 of 7, 21 Bridges Series

Sunday, May 2, 2021 - 09:30

This ride is loosely themed around the late Chadwick Boseman's 21 Bridges.  The aspiration is to ride 17 of 21 bike allowed bridges connecting Manhattan.  For part 2/7, we check off the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges.  Not just bridge riding, we discover neighborhoods on the other side of the bridges.

We start near Queens College and cross the Kosciusko Bridge (DOES NOT COUNT as 1/17 bridges because it does not connect Manhattan) and ride towards the BB via Wythe and Flushing Avenue.  From the BB we take Park Row to NYC Chinatown where we get Vietnamese Pho lunch from Baxter Street, to be eaten in nearby Columbus Park.

A quick tour of Mott and Doyers Street and then we go back to Brooklyn via the Manhattan Br headed to Troutman Ave street art in Bushwick.  We take a walk tour here sipping a coffee or tea from Patanga while viewing murals.  We return to Queens via Grand Ave to Flushing Meadow Park and local street our way to Queens College.

This ride is rated Moderate with a distance of 31 miles and urban riding pace of 10 mph.  Most of the streets will have bike lanes or wider lanes.  1050 ft. elevatiom.  This ride is restricted to 10+2!

Important:  Please ‘unregister’ in a timely manner if you can no longer make the ride.  This will allow others on the waitlist to participate.  Please do not register if you do not intend to ride the complete route.  This action would deprive a fellow member the opportunity to ride the complete route.

The start location is in the vicintiy of Queens College.  Exact details for start location, leader info, and RWG will be emailed to 'complete' ride registrants WED evening before the ride.  Wait listed registrants will be duly notified by email if their status has been changed to 'complete' and provided ride details.  Check out the highlight links!
