Moriches and Manorville

Forecast for Sunday looks good. Time to up the spring training miles. So let's do a mostly fairly flat 44 mile ride with about 1,000 feet of elevation gain and no grade above 5.1% . We have done variations of this ride and each variation has proven enjoyable and popular with some nice scenic sections and some excellent extended riding sections. This variation adds some new and unexplored areas up by Calverton, so a part of the ride is a true scout.
However this Sunday bikes are not necessarily allowed on the LIRR, so unfortunately this ride will only be accessible by automobile. So we will scout it and relist the good parts (like Nettie's). We start at 10:45. The ride is an advanced moderate ride with no real bailouts, so please be able to ride 14mph on the flats.
A caveat: As noted, certain parts of the ride are new. Be prepared for a whoops or two.
Normally, we would stop and pick up lunch, but under the current circumstances, there will be no lunch pick up. If timing is right (and it should be), we will have a brief stop at Nettie's if you want a sweet treat and/or an opportunity to eat lunch that you bring with you. If you have not been there before, Nettie's is an amazing bakery. So please bring your lunch, snacks and sufficient hydration. Eat a good breakfast. Most importantly bring an upbeat inquisitive attitude ready to explore new and unknown areas.
IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS: A reminder that you must register for the ride and that the exact start location will be forwarded to the registered riders. Please 'unregister' if you can not make the ride so waited list folks can move up and take the slot. All riders should come equipped with a mask, hand sanitizer/wipes, a spare tube, sunscreen, snacks and a bike in good condition, as well as being familiar with the current criteria for riding with the Club.
