Ain't No College in College Point
Primary tabs

College Point is one of those neighborhoods that nobody seems to know. It stands on a peninsula that juts out into the east river - cut off by highways and Flushing bay. It's a strange mix of industry, residential, parks and just has a different vibe from most of the City. This ride takes us along the Flushing Bay Marina and into College Point. Once there, we will visit Poppenhausen Institute, which was just about everything in this community - court, jail and school. We will also see the historic Schleicher Mansion and beautiful Beech Court. Lunch will be picnic style along the waterfront in MacNeil Park. MAKE SURE TO PACK A LUNCH and/or SNACKS. After lunch we ride through Flushing Meadows Park, and return via miscellaneous Queens.
This ride leaves from and returns to Brooklyn. The exact location will be provided to those that register. The ride is limited to ten people and we will be following all club and Covid guidelines. This is an ADVANCED MODERATE RIDE and will be about 37 miles from start to finish. If you do register - and cannot make the ride - please email me so that the next person on line can step in. Please bring a spare tube and lights. We hope to be back before dark, but night drops like a hammer these days.
Hope you can join us in this ride to one of New York's stranger neighborhoods.
