Monmouth Battlefield from Cranbury, N.J.

Farmlands to the Battle
Farmlands to the Battle
Friday, October 2, 2020 - 09:00

Bicycle from the historic town of Cranbury, N.J. through farmlands and stop for some history at the Monmouth Battlefield State Park. This battle was a decisive battle of the Revolutionary War. You can walk the battlefields and may cover the same ground as George Washington, Aaron Burr, Alexander Hamilton and other Continental Army figures. Or you may walk where the British, such as Lord Stirling, Cornwalis or Clinton were fighting. We can stop for another break after the Battlefield in the town of Millhurst, mile 30. There is a Tommy's Bagels, Dunkln Donuts, or if we want a fuller meal, Gus's Diner. After our ride, it's always nice to get some ice cream at Gil and Bert's. You can drive to the start or if you wish, take the train from Penn Station, leaving at 8:12 am that arrives at Princeton Junction at 9:26 am.  I expect to send the route to all who sign up by  Wednesday, September, 30.

IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS: A reminder that you must register for the ride and that the exact start location will be forwarded to the registered riders.  Please 'unregister' if you can not make the ride so waited list folks can move up and take the slot.  All riders should come equipped with a mask, hand sanitizer/wipes, a spare tube, sunscreen, snacks and a bike in good condition, as well as being familiar with the current criteria for riding with the Club.
