Saturday Bagels in Flemington New Jersey

A ride to Flemington for Bagels through the farmlands
A ride to Flemington for Bagels through the farmlands
Saturday, September 5, 2020 - 09:30

We will start our cycling adventure in the vicinity of Duke Farms. This is part of the legacy of the late Doris Duke who was environmentally conscious before it was popular. The grounds of Duke Farms have their own unique landscape style. The expanse of them makes them ideal for a slow cycling ride. But alas, they are closed on weekends. Perhaps we can return another time.

So, we will content ourselves with riding among the acres of farmlands in this area, and a few miles alongside the Raritan River, only to come out of the woods to enter the sizable town of Flemington for a stop at "Main St. Bagels", for outside dining.  Those who cannot get here by car, do have the option of taking a New Jersey transit train. As per their schedule, the 8:07 am Penn Station train arrives at 9:42 am at Raritan Station.  (But please check the schedule for yourself) If you do decide to come by train, notify me of this so we will know who to meet at the train station. (The station is about a half mile off the route)

The route will be sent to all via your e-mail a few days before the ride. Please contact me by text for any issues at (718) 887-1854 and identify who you are.

Before the ride check that your bicycle is in good working condition.  And bring the usual things such as sunblock, hydration, helmet, a mask for our meal stop, snacks for the road, and a good attitude.
