Let’s Ride the Flat South Shore of Long Island

Sunday, September 20, 2020 - 10:45

This somewhat newer ride has proven to be a very popular mid-week ride and now we are offering a weekend variation with a somewhat later start.  We ride the flat south shore of Long Island and take a very indirect, scenic, fun meandering route to Heckscher State Park.  The ride back is straighter and on more active roads. Heckscher is a very large park with multiple areas. We will utilize a picnic area for a socially distanced lunch break.  Normally, we would stop and pick up lunch, but under the current circumstances, please bring your lunch, snacks and sufficient hydration, as it is very unlikely that we will stop to pick up food. Be sure to have snacks, since we won't get to picnic in Hecksher until late in the ride. Start area is on the south shore accessible by car or public transportation.

IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS: A reminder that you must register for the ride and that the exact start location will be forwarded to the registered riders up to a maximum of 12 riders.  Please 'unregister' if you can not make the ride so waited list folks can move up and take the slot.  All riders should come equipped with a mask, hand sanitizer/wipes, a spare tube, sunscreen, snacks and a bike in good condition, as well as being familiar with the current criteria for riding with the Club.  And as always an upbeat positive attitude.
