Updates:
       No gravesite, beach instead. Bring a suit and towel if you want to swim! The cemetery is closed so we'll stop at the beach for an optional swim.

       Lunch: For those who prefer to pick up their food en route, we'll stop at Kings Deli:

Pack your lunch and ferry with us across New York Harbor to Staten Island. Once there, a 2.5 mile bike ride will bring us to the former home (now museum) of pioneering photographer and cyclist Alice Austen. After viewing the facade of the picturesque house and the harbor, we'll head off to Moravian cemetery where Alice and many of her relatives are buried. Then, we'll turn south to the boardwalk for seemingly endless coastal and bridge views. We'll picnic near the boardwalk before returning to the Manhattanbound ferry.  

This 16 mi ride starts at 9:45. Two days in advance, I'll email the exact location to the first 12 registrants. If you need to cancel, please contact me (joymesser@gmail.com) and delete your name. This will allow another rider to take your place.

In addition to lunch, pack your helmet, mask, spare tubes, suncreen, snacks, hydration, and hand sanitizer. Make sure your bike is in good working order and keep an on eye on the weather predictions.
