Gorgeous combo of under-visited but wonderful parks/gardens at the north end of NYC, within a ride that is shorter on mileage than most but packed with delights.

Untermyer Gardens https://www.untermyergardens.org/garden-map-and-brochure.html a wonderful gem just north of NYC boundaries; it's unique and free to the public. Of course th restored Temple of Love will be on our route, as will their fountains, ponds, waterways/walkways and vistas. Then southward we bike, skirting the Hudson to scenic Wave Hill (free entry till noon; https://www.wavehill.org/visit/ ) for a groomed garden/terrain and more wonderful view of surrounds and the Hudson River.  We'll snack/lunch at the Wave Hill Cafe (or BYO).

Ride starts along Broadway at the Van Cortland Park restrooms just north of the 242nd Street Subway terminus of the 1 train. Please be on time, and do check NYC subway schedules, service status, and weekend changes. All bikes fine as we will be on paved streets and roads.  Ride ends at the Eleanor Roosevelt statue at 72/RSD, although there are many cut-off places prior to that. ETA on return to 242nd St subway 1:30PM, and Eleanor 2:30PM.

Mostly easy terrain with a few shorter steep pitches. Overall only 1k' altitude gain.

Dress for the weather; layers/leggings/gloves/gaitor can be a good idea for this time of year. Cue sheet will be emailed to registered riders, please print/bring.

Possibly cross listed NYCC.

BRING:  $ for lunch at Wave Hill Cafe, suitable locks for securing bike inside the parks, shoes you can walk in (as there will be walking only inside both parks), and the usuals (tubes, pump, any special tools needed for your bike).
