Tour de Yonkers
Primary tabs

Forget the "hicktown" put down in Hello, Dolly. Yonkers, the 4th largest city in New York State, has a re-developed and vibrant downtown, re-discovered and newly daylighted rivers, spectacular views of the Hudson River and Palisades, lovely parks and rail trails, and, yes, lots of hills that are totally rideable.
The annual event of the Yonkers Bike Club is called, naturally, "Tour de Yonkers". This Tour is reasonably priced at $40 ($50 after 9/15), and includes one of the best buffet lunches you will find on an event ride. Routes of 25 and 50 miles (I've never tried the 12 mile route) are well marked and have marshals stationed at critical locations.

Check-in time begins at 7:30 AM. Based on our past experience, you can check in after 8:00, but not too much later or you'll miss the mass start at 8:30.
I will be doing a feeder ride to the Tour from 242nd and Broadway (terminal of the #1 train) and leaving promptly at 7:30 AM. No point-drop-sweep, we're just going to ride. You're welcome to join me but you can easily get to the Tour yourself. From the #1 train it's only 4 miles; from the A train it's 6 miles:
Tour start point: Beczak Environmental Education Center, 35 Alexander Street, Yonkers
