Ride 2019 Twin Lights Ride FREE! (7:30am start if you meet in Jersey)
Primary tabs

Bike New York has asked us to help fill a few last marshalling spots. So I will be leading an early morning ride - free FERRY from Pier 11 (you need to register for me to give them your name) over to the start line and then 30-55 mile options (let me know which you prefer). e-mail or call me if you need/have alternative options to get to the start line (eg. driving a car as some already are).
This is a fun full morning of riding and then typically a stationary position to help direct traffic flow and encourage riders. If you are a solid DROP - this is open to members who want to learn to be marshalls too - great way to do rides free in and around NYC.
Here is the invitation from Bike New York:
You would be able to ride out with our 100/75 Mile Riders from the Start Area at Huddy Park between 7:30AM and 8:00AM. We would then ask though that your team veer off at the 55 or 30-Mile splits to follow those routes to your Marshal Posts. Those splits occur at:
30-Mile Split - Wycoff Rd. & Broad St. in Eatontown, NJ.
AND
55-Mile Split - Allenwood Rd. & Belmar Blvd in Wall Township, NJ.
This way, your and your team would have time to get in place before the first riders pass through your Course Marshal locations. You would have to be stationed by 10:15-10:30 AM. For mapping purposes, those three Course Marshal posts we would like to have your team at are located at:
Course Marshal Post #8 - Chapel Hill Rd & Whipporwill Valley Rd. in Middletown, NJ.
Course Marshal Post #9 - Monmouth Ave & Whipporwill Valley Rd. in Middletown, NJ.
Course Marshal Post #10 - Memorial Parkway & Linden Ave. (Route 36 Jughandle) in Highlands, NJ.
This plan would equal a 30-55 Mile Ride for you and your team (plus the ride back to the Start/Finish area after volunteering), as well as 6-7 hours of volunteering (from when you get stationed until 5pm). You and your team would be able to stop at any of the Rest Areas along the way for free food and beverage to refuel (again, as long as you arrive at the Marshal Posts on time).
In terms of getting there, we have a free Ferry (for volunteers) leaving from Pier 11 in Manhattan at 6AM. if you give me the names of the volunteers joining you, I could add them to the list. This ferry would take you directly to Huddy Park where the Start Area is located. Additionally, there are free Ferries returning to Manhattan at 5:00PM and 6:30PM that your volunteers would have access to.
If all of this seems a bit too early and you want later work, this late news from Bike New York added Wednesday late morning
- One other thing I forgot to mention: if some volunteers are not able to make the early start time, or only wish to volunteer in the afternoon, we could potentially make that happen as well. We could get them on the 8AM ferry, have them leave from the Start Area at Huddy Park by 10AM, ride just the 30-Mile Route, and then have them relieve or join a volunteer who is already at their designated Marshal Post. Obviously we're more in need of morning marshals/volunteers who can get to their location before riders start coming through, but just as a way to potentially get more people involved.
