Sands Point Scouting Ride
Primary tabs

The 40-mile Sands Point ride has been a staple for the Queens / Long Island component of 5BBC's Spring Training Series.
This is a scouting ride to check out a newly proposed route to see if it is safer than previous versions. We may encounter obstacles or unforeseen conditions.
As such, THIS IS NOT A RIDE FOR BEGINNERS. For this scouting ride, we are seeking experienced riders who can handle roads that may have busy traffic to help check out this new route. Hopefully if this route turns out to be safer, we can list it next year for beginners to challenge themselves during the Spring Training season.
This is a hilly ride, with the signature steep long climb up West Shore Road (max 7.2% grade, for approximately half a mile). 1,842 feet of total climbing over the 40-mile route.
This is a Quick-spin lite ride, with little or no point-drop-sweep. ROAD BIKES ONLY.
Lunch will be at approximately Mile 18 (mall with restaurant choices).
Rain or extreme heat cancels.
