NYC Civil War Monuments Ride

The Civil War still influences our country today.  Cities in the South are in conflict over whether or not to remove their Confederate monuments. Here in New York City we have many monuments dedicated to the heroes of the Union who fought for freedom for all men and women. Many were designed and sculpted by leading artists of the day.  Staring at Riverside Drive & 97th Street we’ll take a 27 mile ride to visit nine of these historic monuments in Manhattan and Brooklyn.  At each monument we’ll compress and hear a brief description of the monument and soldiers, sailors or ships that are honored there.  We’ll stop for lunch at Zaytoons in the Brooklyn’s Prospect Heights neighborhood. Join us for camaraderie, some history and a city ride.

Bring a bike in good condition, a bike lock, a spare inner tube and water.
