River Road to Rail Trails of Rockland County scout
Primary tabs

Get out of town with me! This scout ride offers a mix of slower, quiet rail trails near Nyack and the big uphills and downhills in Palisades Interstate Park. You'll want a road bike for the Palisades hills and a mountain bike or hybrid for the rail trails. What to do about that? Your guess is as good as mine! I may be on my Touring bike with 28 inch tires or on a road bike with 25" Continental All Season tires. (We may skip the Tallman Mountain trail if there is too much water/mud.)
I have not been on all of these trails before, and I am not exactly sure if they connect together seamlessly. Join me and find out together. My goal speed it 15mph on flat, 5mph uphill, and 8mph on unpaved trails.
Lunch is not until West Nyack at Noon, so please bring some snacks. We will have a water/bathroom stop near 140th street and the Courthouse at Palisades Interstate Park. Lunch is at: Martha's West Nyack Deli.
Helmets are always required. Gloves, sunglasses, 2 water bottles, bug spray, sunblock, and two spare inner tubes are highly recommended. Elevation gain: 4291 feet.
