Northern Jersey Shore Loop (Scout)
Primary tabs

The second in my "Its way more fun to explore a new route with friends!" scouting series, this one takes us for a nice, flat, 45 mile trip around the Northern part of the Jersey Shore. We will catch the NJ Transit at Penn Station, take it to Hazlet, NJ, where we will head out, making a bathroom/snack break at Bell Works, the old Headquarters and engineering labs of Bell Telephone (where the first coast to coast Satellite Telephone call was originated from!) From there we will ride to Asbury Park, home of the Stone Pony, Where Bruce Springsteen got his start (and met his wife). From there we will head back north, and end at Matawan, where we will take the NJ transit back to NYC. This is an advanced Moderate ride, and we will be doing our best to keep at least a 15 MPH pace on the flats, and regrouping on the top of any big hills. Hope to see anyone that wants to come, and keep us company as we review the route, and work out any kinks. This is a scout ride, and as such, there will be NO Point Drop Sweep. We will make sure to keep the group together.
We will be meeting at NY Penn station at 7:50AM in front of the NJ Transit waiting area (where the bathrooms are), and getting on the 8:07 North Jersey Coast train, #7225.
Things to Bring:
Helmet
spare tubes/patch kit
Money for lunch and NJ Transit tickets
Weather Appropriate Clothing
Lock
Sense of Adventure!!
If the weather looks bad, I will cancel the trip by 7:00PM the night before the ride here on this post.
