Scout, Scout, Knock Yourself Out - Ronkonkoma/Shirley Loop

The weather for Sunday looks quite good for January.  So, we are taking a chance and listing a scout ride a few of us are planning on doing.  If succesful, we may periodically have a new series, Scout, Scout, Knock Yourself Out, where we may list some scouting rides, especially of the midweek variety, often on Long Island.

Anyway, some important caveats and restrictions.  First this is a true scout, meaning we don't know the location of potential food or bathroom stops, and some roads may be new to us and we may go whoops where was that turn supposed to be.  Second, because it is a true scout, participation unfortunately is limited.  In order to join the ride, you must contact me directly.  Third, we most likely won't be utilizing point drop sweep, but staying closer together as a group.

As regards the ride itself, it is an almost 50 mile ride heading south from the Ronkonkoma train station, then heading east towards Shirley and looping back to Ronkonkoma.  Total elevation gain is only 800 something feet.  If it passes the scout, a slightly longer version of this ride will be offered later in the year.

And BTW, the ride title is a take off on an obscure old song by Ernie Maresca.
