Ronkonkoma 200K

Saturday, June 9, 2018 - 06:00

Join us for a relatively flat 200K brevet starting and ending at the LIRR Ronkonkoma train station. Organized by the Long Island Randonneurs!

If you haven't done a brevet before, it's a bit like a treasure hunt where you have to check in at control points as you make your way through the course.  Fun!

Course is subject to change but in past years it was like this.

In sum, head out on the south fork, take the ferry north to Shelter Island,  then the other Shelter Island ferry north to the north fork, and back to Ronkonkoma.

Registration is $20, you need to sign up here by Wednesday.

You have to catch the 6:12 a.m. train to Ronkonkoma at Penn Station to make it to the start on time.  Let's meet up at 6:00 a.m. sharp under the LIRR big board at Penn.

As this is a quick spin there will be no point-drop-sweep.  We'll ride at ~20 MPH on the flats, completing the course in about ten hours.  If that pace feels wrong, there will be other riders doing the course at paces varying from 14 - 18 MPH you can join up with.  The Ronkonkoma 200K is usually a very friendly event.

Bring pocket food, two water bottles, two spare tubes and air supply, cue sheet holder on handlebars or electronic navigation, LIRR train pass, money for food, ferry fare and trainfare.

NOTE THAT RANDONNEURING RULES REQUIRE YOU TO WEAR A REFLECTIVE VEST AND ANKLE STRAPS--YOU WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO RIDE WITHOUT THEM.
