Hudson River-Bear Mountain-Poughkeepsie
Primary tabs

Join us on a ride through Nyack, Bear Mountain, & cross the Hudson. Return on the train at Poughkeepsie.
Bear Mountain, Hudson Valley region are very hilly. Road bikes only. There are NO easy bail-out points west of the Hudson River.
Helmets are always required. Gloves and warm attire is strongly suggested, along with two spares, pump or CO2, snacks, & a full water bottle. You must have a metronorth bike permit to ride on the train; you may purchase it in advance, before the ride day, at Grand Central Station.
We don't expect to ride north above 17mph on the flats. There will be plenty of elevation. We will likely meander through Bear Mountain State Park. We will climb Perkins Drive. Miles: 94. Elevation: at least 5000' ft, plus Perkins Drive. Average speed uphill: 4 to 6 mph.
Rain, snow, or high winds at the start of the ride or a grim forecast will result in rescheduling the ride to another day. If you have any questions about this ride, please email me before the ride day by 7pm or text me anytime: 9175013095. We will meet next to the drinking fountain at the northern end of Chelsea Piers by 23rd st near the public restrooms. (If you arrive very early, please warm up inside, near the bathrooms.)
Note: if the forecast is off and the temperature drops, please plan accordingly. Phone batteries do not like cold. We will provide you with a cue sheet.
If you wish to join this ride Uptown, or on NJ side of GWB, please contact me ahead of time. [Let me know if you need to leave the ride at Piermont or Nyack, too. That's an option if you don't have time for this ride, which will take the entire day.] I did this ride in February, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Perkins Drive is great to ride right now since it is closed to car traffic until May.
