Long Island Loop
Primary tabs

Well, the Holiday season is behind us, and its time to start looking forward to the SPRINGTIME!!
Ok, even though its not quite Springtime yet, now is a great time to start getting ourselves ready for when that weather gets nice again. This is a nice, relatively flat 36 mile loop out in central Long Island. As an advanced Moderate ride, our goal will be to keep a 15 MPH pace on the flats, and if we need to we will regroup at the top of any big hills. There will be a couple of stops where we can warm up, get some coffee and something to eat, and use the bathroom. We will be meeting at Penn Station, near the LIRR Ticket counter, at 8:00 AM. We will be taking the 8.22 AM train to Westbury. The fare is $9.75 for the way out, and $11.75 for the return trip. (We will be returning from Huntington Station, which is a little further out) Also, please make sure to have your MTA bike pass with you.
This will be the first in a series of rides that will work up in distance and elevation, so that by the end of the series, you will be able to ride the classic Bear Mountain Century Loop. (you can feel free to ride any of the rides that you want to, you do not have to ride the entire series.)
If this sounds exciting and/or challenging to you, register and come on out!
We will do everything in our power to try to get good weather for the ride, but in the event that there is snow, ice, or the temps are dangerously cold, we will post a cancellation by 7:00 PM the night before here on this ride listing.
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING ITEMS FOR THIS RIDE:
WARM CLOTHING
YOUR MTA BIKE PASS
SNACKS AND WATER
TWO SPARE TUBES
YOUR HELMET
MONEY FOR TRAIN TICKETS
