Staten Island Perimeter, 20th anniversary ride
Primary tabs

Way back when in 1997, in my then-youthful, heady days, I made my cycling mark in the Five Borough Bicycle Club, with this humble ride. Going around the roads of the borough of Staten Island was a ride I researched, with paper Hagstrom maps. Plus scouting every mile, under trial and tribulation, on several two-wheeled trips. And it was cancelled several times in 1995-1996 on account of…rain. The first ride, which had Mitch Fox as the co-leader, had a very big turnout. It’s been reprised many times over the decades. Route will be nearly the same, with new greenway stretches. Not expecting a crowd this time. Lunch will be at Killmeyer's Old Bavaria Inn or somewhere else. The 40 plus mile route will be flat, hilly, some busy traffic and some rough roads. Pace is 10-15mph. You can do it. I’m living proof, ha ha ha. 8:15AM, to board the 8:30 ferry to Staten Island. South Ferry terminal and or St. George Ferry terminal, about 9AM.
