Lamas, Lighthouses and Liedy's

Mel's Annual Humiliation
Mel's Annual Humiliation
Sunday, August 13, 2017 - 10:45

Like sleeping late?  Like Tibetan art?  Like a ride with a hill or two?  This is the ride for you!  Challenge yourself on Lighthouse Hill - one of the hardest climbs in New York City.  It is not too long, but it is steep.  Every year I say I'm gonna make it to the top.  Every year it beats me.  THIS IS THE YEAR I MAKE IT !    Once at the top, there are some wonderful sights to see.  We will be visiting the Jacques Marchais Museum of Tibetan Art.  We will check out a lighthouse - in the middle of the island.  And, we will see Crimson Beach - the only house designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in NYC.  All this and much more, including the Dongan Hills mansion area.  Lunch will be at Pho Mac, a delicious Vietnamese restaurant.  At the end of the ride, celebrate with us at Liedy's - a great dive bar - and the oldest family owned bar on Staten island. [About a mile from the ferry].  Join us as we explore The Forgotten Borough.  WE WILL MEET AT 10:45 AND BE ON THE 11:00 FERRY.

Bring:  Admission for the museum [About $3] , lunch money, snacks, water, lock, tubes.  Check the web site and FB page for any potential weather cancellations.
