Monmouth Battlefield Ride - Another October Central Jersey Ride
Primary tabs
There is a change in date to Saturday, October 29th from Sunday the 30th. Ride is now on Saturday. Contact daytrips@5bbc.org if interested in joining the ride.
We continue our October Central Jersey rides with this almost Halloween special, another beauty, hopefully with some changing leaves.
The ride is 55-60 miles. It is mostly on lightly traveled roads, and includes some rail trails. It is in Jersey so there are some roads that are a bit busier. It is a scenic fun ride. It is listed as an advanced moderate ride and you should be able to maintain 13-16 mph on flats. I would expect the points will be keeping a 14-17 pace on the flats and compressing periodically. We will use point drop sweep, but there are long stretches between many turns. The ride has some hills, but is not overly hilly. There is one real climb and some more mild climbs. Lunch will be in Freehold, but bring extra snacks.
The ride will start at 9:30 in the parking lot of the Monmouth Battlefield State Park, which is located just outside of Freehold, New Jersey near the intersection of Routes 9 and Route 33. There is no close by public transportation, so we will seek to coordinate car pools. If need be we will have a meet up at the Bay Ridge Dunkin Donuts. If you have a spot or two in your car for bike and person, please contact me. If you want to attend and don't have a ride, also contact me, and we will try to arrange transport.
PLEASE IF YOU ARE ATTENDING EITHER REGISTER OR CONTACT ME.
It is important to be on time for the start as it is getting darker earlier and there are no bailout options and limited options to cut mileage if running late.
So if you are interested, and you should be, it is a really enjoyable ride, email me and let me know and let me know if you could take anyone and their bike.
