Oh! Oh! Daddy-O's at the New Hopewell Junction Signal Tower
Primary tabs

This ride Cool. No. Really. Ten degrees on average. We're taking Metro-North along the magnificent Hudson to Poughkeepsie. The old rail bridge is 210 Feet above the Hudson's mean water line.
See Green leaves and fields. Legend says that there's rewards at the end of a trail. Well, it's true. At the end of the recently completed Dutchess County Rail Trail, there's a really good restaurant called Daddy-O's. Jesse's legendary appetite met it's match with a plate of what else, pancakes. He discussed bringing Tupperware for the leftovers. The museum is a rebuilt railroad station from the railroad junction. Hopewell Junction was one of two little known super important World War II era sites we're going to. The Hudson is a divide and we needed a united country to beat the Axis powers. The Poughkeepsie Railroad Bridge was the most important link between New England and the rest of the nation. So, here's the details. We'll train to Poughkeepsie, hop onto the D.C.R.T. to Hopewell Junction and Daddy-O's. After lunch, we hit the trail again to the Walkway Over the Hudson and continue west from there. After a day of spectacular trees and sky, we'll hop the train back to NYC with memories of a day with good nature view and good natured folks. Hint: Grab the riverside window seat. Be at Grand Central at 8:25 for the 8:43 or at 125th St. at 8:35 for the 8:54 train to Poughkeepsie. Round trip fares are $35.50(Regular) or $23.50(Seniors). Leaders: Jesse Brown and Ed DeFreitas
