Friday night update: We have twisted ourselves into a pretzel debating what to do given the weather tonight and the forecast. It is quite possible we will have a window to ride on Saturday and I even came up with a shorter version of the ride to address the possibility of afternoon thunderstorms. But, the essence of this ride is the stop at the Family Store and then having a picnic on the park benches and grass in Owls Head Park overlooking the Narrows. Even under the best case scenario, it will be wet, damp, humid and cloudy, at Owls Head, not the atmosphere to enjoy the wonderful delights from the Family Store. So we will reschedule and hopefully we can all get out for a spin in our neighborhoods.

Friday morning update: the forecast for tomorrow is quite iffy with a strong chance of scattered thunderstorms. Please check back to be sure ride is still on. We will post an update no later than 8:00 AM Saturday morning.

More Brooklyn neighborhoods, more Brooklyn history, more excellent Brooklyn food, as we make our way through a variety of areas, including the centers of three of the original six towns of Brooklyn, and eventually stop by the amazing Mediterranean food store in Bay Ridge known as THE FAMILY STORE to pick up lunch, which we'll eat picnic style in Owl's Head Park overlooking the harbor. Bay Ridge was once known as Yellow Hook - learn why the name was changed on this ride. Please bring plenty of water, a lock, money for the wonderful, but not inexpensive Family Store and an upbeat inquisitive attitude.
