Bronx River Pedal & Paddle

Saturday, June 25, 2016 - 09:30

START IS AT CARL SCHURZ PARK at 87th Street - a new starting point not on the club list, fyi.

HAPPY FACE RIDE - This is a 'dry run' of sorts. Our official Pedal-Paddle-Pedal ride is scheduled for July 30th, when the Bronx River Alliance will be escorting us (for a small fee) on a canoe ride on the Bronx River.  If you can't wait til then or just want to get your feet wet (j/k, you don't even have to get your feet wet!) or are busy 7/30 but free tomorrow, or want the experience FOR FREE tomorrow , we'll be riding from the UES of Manhattan to Concrete Plant Park in the Bronx where the Bronx River Alliance will be hosting a Community Paddle. This is a first-come, first-serve opportunity to get a taste of canoeing on the Bronx River.  From there we'll take a route across the Bronx to the High Bridge which re-opened last year and then return to Manhattan via the UWS.  As always, bring spare tube, or repair kit and lunch or money to buy lunch. Helmets required. Pace 8-10mph. Some hills. START LOCATION: Carl Schurz Park at 87th Street END LOCATION: Central Park North Exit at Lenox & 110th Street (2 and 3 train nearby)
