WE ARE RIDING TODAY.  PLEASE, MAKE SURE TO BRING RAIN GEAR!

Got a hate & love relationship with hills?  This route makes it worthwhile with some beautiful scenic roads along the ocean and by Hemlock and the Saugatuck Reservoir. Plus it is just a 1 hour train ride from Manhattan. Check out dreamy summer homes and and enjoy coasting on smooth roads that are surprisingly pothole-free. Get a great workout with short, quick climbs, and some nice, long downhills.  You'll see that Connecticut knows "what rolling hills are all about.” (44.1 miles/2,062 elevation gain).

Lunch will be at the Old Black Bird Inn in Easton, CT. http://www.yelp.com/biz/olde-bluebird-inn-easton at about the midpoint. Please, make sure that you bring plenty of snacks since there are many rolling hills, and not as many stopping points.

We have listed the ride as an advanced moderate ride given the hills. However, since its early in the season, our average speed will be just 13-15 mph. Road bikes and touring bikes are recommended.

Bring 2 backup tubes, Metro-North Bike Pass (you can buy it at Grand Central), bungee cord to tie your bike in the train, small lock, and cash for lunch.

Meeting time is 8:45 am at Grand Central (with your round-trip ticket to Westport & your MTA bike permit in your hand) to board the 9:02 am train to Westport (New Haven Line).  You can also board the train at 125 Street. If so, please notify Natalie Pham that you are planning to do that.

We will return in the late afternoon/early evening on MetroNorth to Grand Central Terminal.
