Snow is melting. THE RIDE IS A GO !
Saturday, February 6, 2016 - 09:45

After getting off the ferry, we ride along the northern edge of Staten Island as we visit The Blazing Star Cemetery /Dead Pool.  The Cemetery is the final resting place of some of Staten Island's oldest families - Seguines and Poillons.  We then cut across the heart of Staten Island and visit the community of Prince's Bay.  We will check out Lemon Creek Park, osage orange trees planted by Frederick Law Olmstead, see the Seguine Mansion, and visit the Manee-Seguine Homestead.  We will also head to the beach for some great water views and the "Totten Pole."   We come back along Arbutus Lake, where the 1% lives, and climb the hill up to Fort Wadsworth.   Lunch will depend on group size but will likely be at Cucumer Sushi - unless the group is too large.

We meet at 9:45 to take the 10:00 Ferry.  There are various bailout points along the way via the SIRR - in case of darkness, weather or ennui.  Of course, it is Winter, so check the 5BBC Website and Facebook page for cancellations or time changes.  Bring - Lock, Spare Tubes, Lights, Snacks and a thirst for exploration.  Hope that you can join us.
