Hollydays Lights Ride - Post Christmas Version
Primary tabs
Tonight's ride is on. Meeting at Grand Army at 5:45. Forecast is far from perfect, but the closest rain on radar is in Washington DC. Other than a forecast of mist producing a hundredth of an inch at 5:00 PM the best models don't have anything until about 10:00, a very good window, to hopefully enjoy the lights. However, there is lots of moisture in the air and that may or not move to mist, fog or light showers. Best guess is that we get to see the lights at Sam the Greek and in Dyker, and perhaps now even Bay Ridge, but you never know. If the weather changes for the worst, we have bailout options.
The forecast for tonight is at best iffy. At this point, we hope to still go forward with the ride, but we will be modifying it given the forecast. First, in order to give us more time before the potential showers arrive we have changed the start time to 5:45. I will also be modifying the order of the route. In the event of rain, there will be subway bailouts. Also, we may change the end location of the ride to a subway stop in Bay Ridge or Bensonhurst depending on developments. So, if you are still interested, check back later today to be sure the ride is still on (if the forecast goes in the toilet, then we will be forced to cancel). Don't forget your lights and have some gear that will be helpful if it starts to mist or drizzle.
Named one of Bicycle Magazine’s Eight Great Holiday Day Rides, the Hollydays’ Lights ride is back again this year and we are holding the ride once again on two different dates, pre- and post-Christmas. This is the post-Christmas version. Layer up and come join us for a Christmas week ride through parts of western Brooklyn to check out the holiday lights. We will ride at a leisurely pace to lighting displays in Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights and Bensonhurst. Midway we'll stop in Bay Ridge for a chance to get a holiday treat, hot chocolate or perhaps a slice from Nino's. Bring lock and money for food. Helmets are required and all bikes must have both front and rear lights. Also, please wear bright or reflective clothing.
