Satan Island Halloween Evening Ride
Primary tabs

Yes, another Fall, another Halloween and that can only mean one scary thing: The Satan Island Torchlight Cemetery Tour!, sponsored by those lovely Friends of Abandoned Cemeteries of Richmond County. Join us as we promenade at night through Lake Cemetery in Port Richmond, with just our bike lights (so please do bring front and rear), in search of tormented spirits and pesky hobgoblins. If we keep our composure, we'll then hobble over to Denino's Pizzeria and Tavern, literally right down the block, for some of their famous thin crust pizza (voted by all the dearly departed as the best slice in town, so need we say more?). And for an additional exclusive Staten Island homegrown treat, the ride back may include a stop at Flagship Brewery, conveniently on the traffic-free Promenade at Lighthouse Point on the approach to St. George ferry terminal. (If you were at the finish of the Tour de Staten Island, you've sampled these excellent brews.) Barring any unseen incidents -- and you know the kind we speak of -- we should be on the 11PM ferry back to the city. For those skittish about riding at night among ghouls, on Halloween, as you know, motorists take particular caution due to the number of children on the streets. As a result, expect to see fewer cars as well..
And, remember, too: though we may be down one co-leader at the start, we hope to encounter the infamous headless, helmetless co-leader of rides past along the way who will guide us safely back to familiar shores.
Bring $$ for tour, pizza, and beer. Lights (front and rear) and helmets (unless you are headless) mandatory.
We meet at 5:15 at Whitehall for the 5:30PM ferry.
