Central New Jersey -Trails, Paths, Parks, Backroads, Horses and Assunpink

Ride is on for Sunday October 4th.
Ride is on for Sunday October 4th.
Sunday, October 4, 2015 - 09:30

UPDATE: We are cancelling and rescheduling (see below). Regardless of Joaquin, the weather will not be good enough to enjoy the ride with some rain, wet surfaces and nasty wind on Saturday.

We are rescheduling for two different dates and feel free to join both.  But I need you to respond about Sunday ASAP. We are tentatively, weather dependent, scheduling the ride for the same time and start location for Sunday the 4th.  We are also rescheduling the ride for Friday, October 23rd and let me know about that when you can

WE NEED YOUR RESPONSE ABOUT SUNDAY NOW - the logistics for Sunday are a bit more complicated, so I would ask you to respond quickly.  If you are taking the train, no issue.  The train leaves the same time and arrives at Princeton Junction at 9:26. Please though let me know if you plan on attending via train on Sunday.

Car pools.  I'm not sure the extent of availability. If you have a car and can take someone on Sunday, please let me know, as this will take some juggling  We will aim to meet at the Dunkin Donuts on 4th Avenue and 93rd Street in Bay Ridge at about 7:30/40 to load bikes and people and leave by no later than 8:00.

If you don't have a car, but want a ride, you need to contact me so I can confirm there is a space.  You would then need to be at Dunkin Donuts by 7:30.

If you have a car and are meeting us directly at Princeton Junction, please let me know.  But if you can, we will likely need help at Dunkin Donuts, so if you can stop there, please let me know.

Finally, Joaquin remains uncertain. Best estimate is that it will turn east and we can ride on Sunday. But that can change.  So please check the website and Facebook for updates.  We hope to ride Sunday, but will be monitoring developments and Brian will be giving me as much behind the scenes info as possible as it develops. Joaquin is a real storm, we will not play around if it hangs near the coast or heads to Delmarva.

This is a new and a relatively easier 50 mile Central Jersey ride with only 1,100 feet of climbing.  Join us for a ride that takes us from suburbia, to Assunpink, to a horse park, to community parks and back to suburbia.  On the way we will travel along trails, bike paths, quiet backroads and some busier suburban streets.  Lunch is at an Italian place.  This is a scenic and fun ride.

We will meet at the Princeton Junction Train station at about 9:30 AM.   We expect most riders will be arriving via car pools, but there is a New Jersey transit train that leaves Penn Station at 8:14 that stops at Princeton Junction at about 9:26. The leaders will not be on the train, but will be part of the car pools.

THIS RIDE REQUIRES PRE-REGISTRATION.  If interested in the ride, please contact Bill Mastro at billm45s@verizon.net and let me know if you will be arriving via NJ Transit, or if you need a ride or if you have a car and bike rack and would be willing to take some riders with you.   Some of those heading to the start will likely meet at the Dunkin Donuts parking lot on 4th Avenue and 93rd Street in Bay Ridge near the last stop of the R train.  We will try to help coordinate carpooling, but that will be based upon availability of seats and room on bike racks

This is an advanced moderate ride, but it will be slower than the Estate ride on October 10th. We will keep a steady pace in order to be back before dark. There are no bail out options.

Please bring money for lunch, plenty of hydration, spare tubes, perhaps a lock, and an inquisitive attitude.
