The New York Air Show, originally slated to take place in Coney Island this summer, has moved north to Stewart Airport in Newburgh, NY, and 5 BBC will follow the "vapor trail" for a great day out!

The show features hundreds of static aircraft and in-flight performances by planes that span the spectrum of aviation history, along with parachute demonstrations.

Travel to Beacon Metro North Railroad Station via the 7:43 AM train from Grand Central (arriving at 9:18 AM), or on your own, to meet us for a 9:30 AM bike check and start. We'll take a rolling 30 mile ride from Beacon over the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge through the area surrounding the airport, arriving as close to 12 Noon as we can.

We'll return to Beacon for trains departing to Grand Central at either 5:10 PM (6:48 PM arrival) or 6:12 PM (7:48 arrival).

General Admission to the Air Show costs $17.50. It is your responsibility to purchase tickets in advance online, or to buy them on the day of the event.

https://tickets.completeticketsolutions.com/NYAS/Online/, or call 877-766-8158 to order tickets. Use promocode NY15 for a 10% discount through August 24.

According to the organizers, no outside food and drink is allowed on the grounds. We will have a snack stop on our ride. Be sure to bring your own food and drink for the ride to the airport, along with tools, tubes, money and a lock for your bike. You must have a Metro North/LIRR Bicycle Pass, along with bungee cord or other tie-down to secure your bicycle on the train. Bring lights/reflectors if you will be riding home from Grand Central, as the days are getting shorter.

Your leaders will be contacting the show organizers for any special instructions to cyclists attending the event. Updates will be posted on the 5BBC Member Forum.

Our cycling route will include roads that are part of the NY State Bicycle Route System. However, many of these roads have narrow, rough shoulders. This is an advanced ride for those with strong bicycle handling and climbing skills. Road bikes and hybrids only, please.
