The Lost Synagogues of Staten Island

NEW! Latest in the Series of 5BBC Lost Synagogue Rides
Sunday, August 16, 2015 - 09:45

NOTE NEW START TIME! 9:45am (SHARP!) at South Ferry / Entrance to Staten Island Ferry so we can make the 10AM Ferry over.

For people on Staten Island, please let us know you are coming via e-mail and we will meet you outside the Ferry building at our point of exit.

It started with Brooklyn, then the Bronx, earlier this year Queens, and now - Staten Island!

Not as many lost synagogues here as in those other three boroughs, but enough to get to one end of the Island and back and include a stop at the beach for some kosher deli delivered to us there!

Your familiar dynamic duo, Gary Katz and Allan Friedman, are at it again finding those architectural treasures now being used for other purposes.

Please register for the ride. It is never taken as a firm committment, but it will allow us to let you consider what you might want to eat on that day - in advance and let us optimize the time taken to order our deli experience.

It will be a later lunch at the beach (some time between 1:30-3 depending on how the trip goes) and we will have at least two bathroom stops, some sights to see and a snack break - so eat an early, healthy breakfast and/or bring enough snacks to tide you over until we hit the beach.

NB: The picture shows Manhattan, because the Staten Island synagogues are included in that book. Watch this space for another ride that will feature the Lost Synagogues of Manhattan!
