Maritime Bronx
Primary tabs

This is a 50 mile ride that takes in four of our five boroughs. Starting at Prospect Park we ride along the Brooklyn and Queens waterfront, until we cross the Tri-Borough Bridge and head into the Bronx. We continue through the urban grit that the Bronx is known for. At Concrete Plant Park - we witness how this is being transformed. Then the scenery changes. Cycling through beautiful Soundview and Pugsley Creek Parks you would never belive that you are still in The Bronx. We head through Silver Beach and then visit scenic Ft. Schuyler and SUNY Maritime. On the way back, we take Pennyfield Road through the Schuylerville section of the Bronx and stop at a beautiful waterfall at Bronx River Park. The ride then heads across the Madison Avenue Bridge and down the Manhattan side of the East River. We cross back across the 59th St. Bridge, the Pulaski Bridge and return to Prospect Park.
Note - while the ride is listed at a moderate pace, the mileage and bridges make it somewhat of a more strenuous ride. We have a tasty lunch stop at Paddy's by the Bay at the foot of Pennyfield Road. Lunch hint: Share a sandwich. Bring - lock, tubes, lunch money, snacks, and a spirit of adventure. And remember - hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. In case of iffy weather - check the web site and the fb page.
This ride also features Elyssa Respault's [Class of 2015] first ride as a Leader of the 5BBC. She will be sweeping, and pointing on the way back. Come celebrate this achievement with her. Maybe buy her a round at Paddy's.
