Gardens & Peacocks
Primary tabs

We're not going far . . . but well worth it for the adventure and uniqueness.
Ride meanders north thru Fieldston/Riverdale to the overlooked gem of the Untermeyr Gardens in Yonkers (free admission). We ride up the old carriage trail, then walk-tour a bit about the former Greystone estate, including their fabulous Indo-Persian walled garden (http://www.untermyergardens.org/walled-garden.html). Then we bike over to the gorgeous "Peacock & Beauty in Art" exhibit at the Hudson River Museum ($6/4). All followed by a local lite nosh at waterfront area cafe wraps up a nice ride, before returning to NYC.
Estimated return to Manhattan 3PMish (plenty of time to make the Hollydays Lights Ride :>). Bails or quick return possible via NYC subway (Van Cortland/Bway/242nd St.) or MetroNorth (Yonkers, Riverdale, Spuyten Duyvil, Marble Hill).
Cross listed NYCC. Ride as a Quick Spin group with little stopping. Cue sheet provided in advance to listed riders.
BRING: Sense of adventure. Walkable shoes (some possible bushwacking). Hybrids or mountain bikes fine; road bikes OK (possibly a bit on the unpaved Croton rail trail, but mostly paved). Lock/chain (must be able to lock up bikes, so don't bring any $10k steed). $ for Hudson River museum entry and snack/refreshments. MTA permit and/or subway card, in case.
START: West sidewalk of Riverside Drive, near restrooms just north of Grants Tomb/Sakura Park (approx 123rd St). Ride DEPARTS punctually, so arrive in enough time to visit the park facilities if needed, and for our bike check at 8:55AM.
