Brooklyn's Backbone
Primary tabs

Many moons ago, moving formations of rocks came to rest, creating what is now Long Island. The western part of the island, aka Brooklyn, has long been known for having plenty of backbone. Geology is no exception. A phenomenon known as the terminal moraine is responsible for the high in Highland Park, the heights in Dyker Heights, and many other neighborhoods with similarly themed names. With the aforementioned locales serving as bookends, we'll ride alongside of, on top of, and occasionally over the moraine as we pass through Crown Heights, Prospect Heights, Park Slope, Sunset Park and Bay Ridge.
We'll travel at a steady urban cruising pace through the hillier sections of the borough. There will be pit stops for the rest room, but no lunch stop. To keep the ride moving, riders are requested to bring their own snacks.
