The Helmetless Ghoulish Bike Ride *
Primary tabs

There are quite a few ghouls riding helmetless, some even headless -- and clueless -- especially on Halloween. So tonight we'll stay clear of Manhattan bike lanes, and instead take the boat over to "Satan Island" to one of the scariest and oldest cemeteries around for some good old spirit raising. A torchlight tour begins at 7:30PM, and Friends of Abandoned Cemeteries of Staten Island is asking for a $20 donation, to help maintain the digs of our dearly departed, which is as good a cause as any, since we want to be on the good side of any departed. But before we descend to the lower depths, we'll drop in for a little LIVELY (get it, lively?) Halloween festivities at the West Cork Union Hall ("Best Irish Bar on Staten Island, You Never Heard Of" - Yelp), just down the block, for some cider, ale, and eggplant(less) and chicken(hearted) calzones. Just joking. but everything else is seriously dead on. Our route: http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/the-helmetless-ghoulish-ride
Meet at 5:30PM at Chelsea Pier (23 St. and the Greenway), or at South Ferry for the 6PM ferry.
* Note: Only the living are required to wear helmets on 5BBC rides, and, to keep ghoulish motor vehicles at bay, to have front and rear lights on your bicycle. And the front light, if it is a detachable torch light, will come in handy for the tour.
