Bridges of Ulster County
Primary tabs

Our tour of Ulster County, NY, highlights 4 bridges dedicated to non-motorized (i.e., bicycle and pedestrian) travel. We visit Perrine's Bridge, the 2nd oldest covered bridge in the state. Then we cross 2 trestle bridges on the Wallkill Rail Trail: in New Paltz (pictured), and in Rosendale (the rebuilt railroad bridge over Rondout Creek, opened last year). And we begin and end our journey on the Walkway Over the Hudson, which now sports an elevator to the Poughkeepsie Metro North station. Tire width of 28 mm or wider is recommended (but not required) for unpaved trails. Meet at the clock in Grand Central Terminal, 7:20 for the 7:43 train to Poughkeepsie, or catch this train anywhere en route. Buy your ticket ($34 round trip GCT-Poughkeepsie) before getting on the train, and bring or buy your MTA bike pass.
